the fundamental flaw in the deficiencies model

In most organizational cultures I encounter, there is still a seductive obsession with weaknesses. It's a paradigm based on the mechanical notion, accurate for mechanical systems, that success is the elimination of deficiencies.

Now only isn't there evidence to support the model applied to living systems, a deficiency approach actually weakens living systems.

Living systems grow when we focus on optimizing and engaging the strengths of the system. This has profound implications for the kinds of converations we practice and promote in the culture.
